WITH its latest acquisition of the first High Definition (HD) studio and Outside Broadcast (OB) Van in the country, Supersport has promised to make the Nigerian Premier League (NPL) more attractive and have the kind of leverage their counterpart, English Premier League (EPL) enjoys from its broadcast.
Intimating the media recently on the delivery of their modern broadcast equipment at their Ojota , Lagos office, Chairman of Multichoice Nigeria, Adewunmi Ogunsanya said the Nigerian Premier League stands to enjoy the touch of High Definition broadcast.
He said, “High quality production and broadcasting of the Nigerian Premier League packaged in a highly attractive television offering by Nigerians for Nigerians will certainly change the way the local football scene is perceived thereby bringing back sponsors to the game and spectators to the stadia.
““We have invested not only in the equipment, but on the people manning them. A certificate training course has been conducted by SuperSport since May for young Nigerian engineers on production management thus enabling Nigeria to view its own content as produced by its own highly skilled people.”
Earlier in his speech, the General Manager SuperSport Nigeria, Felix Awogu said Nigerians are soccer loving people who deserve nothing but the best. He added that the newly acquired broadcast equipment would enable the production of local content in crystal clear higher resolution which is set to enhance the viewing pleasure of all Nigerians. “Football captivates the excitement of the very best that club football has to offer and the enjoyment of these High Definition is something that Supesport has in common with football enthusiasts”, Awogu said.
Also speaking was the Supersport’s Operation Director for Africa, Andre Venter who also said that the acquisition of the equipment was the first step to broadcasting Nigerian sports in High Definition. He said the van was equipped with 22 cameras and captures surround sound making it suitable for high quality production sporting event and musical concerts too
