OVER six hundred students who gathered at Ikoyi, Lagos over the weekend were empowered as Etisalat takes responsibility over three schools in Lagos to provide infrastructure, teacher training and books for them.
Speaking at a counseling forum organised by Etisalat to sensitised students on the need of making appropriate career choice, the Head, Etisalat CRS, International Communications, Mr Ismail Omamegbe stated: “For the three adopted schools, Etisalat will take total responsibility in the areas of infrastructure, teachers training and purchased of books.”
He reiterated that though Etisalat started three years ago, it has not nevertheless hesitated to given back to the society almost the same year it began operations. “This depicts how sensitive the organisation is to the needs of the society,” he said.
During the presentation of career motivational talk by Engr. Chinenye Faleye, it was discovered that most of the students were not enthusiastic on Engineering or marketing related courses but were delighted in being medical doctors or lawyers. This was revealed in their responses to question threw at them.
The students were however urged to channel their ideas into what is productive as good ideas will always led to productivity.
“When you are confronted with challenges in your career always engage in analytical thinking on how to solve it as the solution will come through it,” Faleye said. On Mathematics, which appears to be one of the most difficult subject for students, Faleye maintain that the solution to the phobia is to fall in love with it. She said:” If you cannot solve a problem, speak with your teacher about it.”
On the contrary which beats the imagination of the students, the Director, Quality Assurance, Education District, Falomo, Mr. Bandele Oduguwa Said: “The earlier you know that the white collar jobs are no longer there, the better for you. Therefore, you must learn one vocational study in order to forestall the problem of joblessness in the future.”
