Kano – Niger Tornadoes’ Technical Adviser, Justin Tenger, has advised Kano Pillars FC to improve on their attack to do well in the group stage of the CAF Orange Champions League.
Tenger gave the advice in Kano after his team held the continental league campaigners to a goalless draw in a premier league match at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
He said that his advice was based on the fact that the Kano side had chances to defeat Tornadoes but could not convert them.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Pillars qualified for the CAF Champions League second round after overcoming Liberia’s Mighty Barrole 3-1 on aggregate.
Pillars had in the first leg of the preliminaries defeated the Liberians 2-1 in Monrovia and 1-0 in the return leg.
“Pillars need to sharpen their attack if they want to put up a strong showing in their Champions League outings.
“They need at least one prolific striker to help them score goals in the tournament,” Tenger said.
On the premier league encounter, he said that Pillars created many scoring chances, including a penalty but failed to utilise them to win.
Tenger, a former Pillars coach described the team as a good side, saying that his team prepared well for them because he knew the players’ quality.
“I knew I was coming to face fire in Kano and I was prepared for them because I know many of the players.
“I left many of them here and I have watched many videos on their previous matches,” he said.
The team’s coach, Ladan Bosso, was escorted out of the pitch after the match by policemen because of the angry fans who rained abuses on him. (NAN)
