DELTA State police command says it has recovered samples of dynamites and 90 rounds of live ammunition used by bandits, who raided a new generation bank at Umunede last Friday while the President Goodluck Jonathan was visiting the state, just a robbery suspect was gunned down at a hotel in Asaba, Delta State during a gun duel between members of his gang and police.
State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Charles Muka told our reporter that “we are investigating the robbery. We recovered dynamites and 90 rounds of live ammunition at the scene. Explosive Ordinance Unit has been invited to the scene and are putting together available information which may give clues as to the authors of that robbery.”
The Umunede bank robbers, who stormed the bank at about 12 noon last Friday, allegedly used dynamites to gain access to the bank’s vault and carted away unspecified sums of money.
On the Asaba hotel robbery, the PPRO said that the armed robbery suspected was killed during a gun duel with policemen from A Division Asaba at a hotel in Asaba during a raid while three of the gang members escaped with bullet wounds.
