ABAKALIKI—THREE members of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in Ebonyi State, including an aide to a senatorial candidate of the party have sustained bullet injuries in an attack allegedly executed by some thugs suspected to be loyalists of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.

Vanguard gathered that the incident, which occurred last Sunday at Onueke, the headquarters of Ezza South Local government area, left APGA supporters wounded.

The victims were reportedly attacked  while pasting posters of the party’s governorship candidate, Ambassador Frank Ogbuewu, and Senator Emmanuel Onwe, the candidate of the party for Ebonyi Central senatorial district.

The senator’s aide, Douglas Edeh, who spoke with Vanguard at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Abakaliki, lamented: “I am no longer comfortable; I sustained several wounds on my head.”

Edeh said doctors could not attend to him promptly because of the serious nature of his condition, expressing fears that he might not survive if adequate medical attention was not given to him.

Reacting to the attack, Senator Onwe said the suspected thugs of PDP rode into where his supporters were pasting his posters with a Hiace bus and shot sporadically, leaving four of his supporters injured.

According to him, my campaign workers were attacked, shot and one was adopted, up till now, we are yet to discover were he is.

He said the attack was unprovoked and uncalled for, adding that his campaign bus was equally smashed.
“I want those responsible to be called to order.  No amount of intimidation can stop me from exercising my franchise,” he said.
