The executive committee of the Nigeria Football Federation rose from its meeting held yesterday at the Le Meridien Hotel, Uyo Akwa Ibom state with a resolution to uphold the Professor Ibidapo Obe Arbitration Tribunal set up by the former Abdullahi Lulu-led board on the Nigeria Premier League leadership tussle.
The NFF also ordered for fresh elections to be conducted into the offices of the chairman of NPL and Chairman of chairmen of NPL within 14 days and in full compliance with NPL statutes.
The resolution states that “the remaining NPL board members should continue to run the affairs of the NPL without let or hindrance in the ongoing season.”
Furthermore, the executive committee appealed for calm and the co-operation of all stakeholders in the country in order that the NPL lingering tussle be brought to a logical conclusion.
In the meantime, the vice chairman of the NPL, Shehu Gusau has been directed to act as chairman before the scheduled elections.
Similarly, all state football associations were ordered to conduct elections on or before January 10, 2011.
