BENIN—A Presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, Chief Harry Akande, has canvassed for a four man Interim Government to be headed by a retired Chief Justice of Nigeriam come May 29, 2010, that will run for four months and conduct a free, fair and credible elections in the country.
Besides, the former Chairman, Board of Trustees of the ANPP blamed what he called a cabal within the party for the misfortunes of the party, saying that they were responsible for selling the party to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for a piece meal.
Fielding questions from newsmen at the Benin Airport, yesterday, shortly after attending a book presentation written by the Isekhure of Benin and Chief Priest to the Oba of Benin, Chief Nosakhare Isekhure, Chief Akande, said that the present situation where those contestants in government use government paraphelia at the expense of others should not be allowed to happen again in the country.
According to him, “I want to have a situation where on May 29, all the people in government just leave and we have a three or four man Interim Government to be headed by a retired Chief Justice of Nigeria, preferably somebody like Muhammadu Uwais and people of good characters in the country”
“Let them rule for four months and then, conduct a free, fair and credible election. Let all the people that are there leave by May 29th so that the power of incumbency will be nil. And that can speak for them is their pedigrees, their experiences and performances in office”.
“But in a situation where all the governors, President can use government Aircraft, government resources, government SSS, government Television stations at the expense of other contestants is not good”.
Chief Akande tasked the INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega to conduct a free, fair and credible election that would be pride of the nation.
He also called on the electorate to ensure that their votes counts and make sure that only credible Nigerians were elected to represent their interests in the forth coming elections.
