ABUJA—Bayelsa State Governor, Chief Timipre Sylva, has assured the people of the state that given another four years, he will take the state to another level.
Sylva stated this, while fielding questions from journalists at the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Secretariat in Abuja, shortly after submitting his gubernatorial nomination form as well as the expression of intent form, yesterday.
Responding to a question on what Bayelsans should expect from him as he seeks re-election, the Governor said, the present administration has painstakingly laid the foundation for development and given another four years, Bayelsa will never be the same again.
Sylva further said he was re-dedicating himself to the service of the people of the state and would do everything to change the face of Bayelsa.
On the perceived rift between him and other members the party, Sylva remarked that the party, just like the state, has been very peaceful.
“There is no problem in our great party. We believe in the unity and oneness of the party. PDP is one and soon, you people will begin to hear all the good stories coming out of Bayelsa.
“Today we are very proud that our state has produced the President and under his aegis, everybody comes together,” the Governor further said.
In a separate interview, the Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Mr. Heineken Lokpobiri, who accompanied the governor to submit his forms, said there was no division at all among stakeholders in the P.D.P. in the state.
According to Lokpobiri, “there is no problem whatsoever among the people of P.D.P. If there was any problem at all, it must have been as a result of mis-information or misconceptions in the mind of the people or a creation of the media”.
Explaining further, he said people can disagree on the grounds of principle and later such differences can be sorted out amicably.
Senator Lokpobiri added that “right now there is no problem. We are all working together for the progress of the state. As you can see we have come to show solidarity, and support for our governor”.
Some of the dignitaries that accompanied the governor include the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Werinepre Seibarugu, Senators Heineken Lokpobiri and Emmaneul Paulker, Members of the House of Representatives, Clever Ikisikpo, Warman Ogoriba and Seriake Dickson.
Others are the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nestor Binabo, Deputy Speaker, Mr. Fini Angaye, members of the State Executive Council and Special Advisers.
