OWERRI—The United Nations Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF), has been commended for upholding the world body’s mandate to advocate for the realization and protection of the rights of children and women globally.
The Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Chief Cosmas Iwu, stated this at the opening ceremony of the second zonal workshop on emergency preparedness and response planning, organised by Imo State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA) in Owerri.
“UNICEF had partnered with the state government and its agencies to formulate policies, standards and systems that would enhance effective delivery of emergency services to vulnerable people and areasâ€, Iwu said.
