Physically challenged people under the aegis of Disabled Transportation Scheme in Lagos, yesterday, protested alleged highhandedness suffered by members in the hands of Special Adviser to Governor Babatunde Fashola on Transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa, last Friday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.
Chairman of the group, Mr. Dotun Bakare, alleged that Opeifa trampled on his head and slapped another physically-challenged lady who dared to challenge him for trampling on the physically-challenged.
Bakare told newsmen that he and members of his association opted to meet the Special Assistant to the governor at the stadium where he is heading protocols at the ongoing FIFA Under-17 championship to demand release of six buses seized by members of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
He said Opeifa sent officials of his agency to confiscate the parked vehicles where they were holding meetings with drivers at an eatery to warn them of the need to adhere strictly to traffic regulations.
He said they had tried in vain to see the governor on the development hence they decided to take their protest to the state House of Assembly.
Efforts to confirm the allegation from Opeifa was unsuccessful at press time.
Commenting on the development, state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Supo Sasore advised the affected individuals to write a formal petition to his office, promising to investigate the matter.
