HP boosts SMBs with innovative technologies

Determined to make businesses enterprises in Nigeria  more profitable, Hewlett-Packard (HP) has said that it is committed to growing small and medium scale business sector  in Nigeria by continuously introducing intuitive laser and link-based products which will assist businesses to tailor their portfolio according to their precise needs.

Regional General Manager, Imaging and Printing Group, HP Africa, Amr Hassan who disclosed this to newsmen in Lagos  said HP recognizes that one of the significant characteristics of a flourishing and growing economy         is a booming and blooming small and medium business sector because small and medium businesses, through employment creation  for rural and urban growing labor force,  provide desirable sustainability and innovations for the  economy.

As part of its plan to  change the face of business in Nigeria, he said HP had brought  latest technological innovations and services that could add value to her clients’ businesses, especially in today’s economic times, noting that colour presentation has become a compelling force within the small and medium-size business segment,  which has triggered competition among companies in the marketplace.

He underscored the business benefits of colour printing,  saying that some recent research works had shown that colour improve brand recognition of a name   by up to 80 per cent, adding that printing  in colour will only help SMEs to have a positive impact in their communication  precesses.

“The use of colour is not merely a question of aesthetics. It can make genuine business sense even in challenging economic times such as this , both empirical research and anecdotal examples demonstrate the importance of colour and the role it plays in individual’s decision-making and how it influence their level of success in their businesses.

In this era of competitiveness, the use of colour helps small businesses to stand out from the crowd, thus growing their business. This is demonstrated in readership which shows that colour advertisements are 42 percent higher than their black and white equivalents and that reactions to colour account for up to 90 percent of people’s initial impressions when they see a new product.” he stated.
He urged SMEs to apply and optimize the use of colour in an efficient and cost effective way, stressing that colour should be considered as a resource whose use can be managed and controlled, point out that there are a range of solutions available for all sizes of organizations from HP Colour Access for enterprises to HP Easy Printer Care for SMEs.

“HP understands that small businesses want quality at an affordable cost therefore, the use of HP Original supplies will prove to be highly economical for the SMEs. Recent survey revealed that original HP inject cartridges deliver 34 percent more pages and prints than compatible cartridges and 69 percent more pages than cartridges refilled at refill stations.” he added.

As part of efforts to encourage personal computer users in Nigeria, he said HP had launched many programmes , which helps them in identifying HP initiatives, products and services designed with the environment in mind.The campaign he said , also encourages users to download a new desktop widget that tracks the cumulative energy savings associated with participants turning off idle PCs when not in use.

On measures taken by HP to check counterfeit goods, he said “ we have been on the frontline on the war against counterfeits and since the beginning of this year, the programme has overseen more than 320,000 seized finished counterfeits components intended for illegal re-use.”
