There was no evil, corruption, sickness, famine, death, etc. Everything was beautiful and in abundance. Man reigned on earth as lord because he was given dominion and authority by God. However, man lost this position when he surrendered his authority to the devil by obeying the lies of the devil and sinning against God. Thus the devil became the god of this world.

I HAVE thought over an issue in the last few weeks. Who are the best ambassadors of a country? The professional diplomats in well-tailored clothes, exhibiting a cultured presence aided by good diction? Or the citizens who fan out to other countries usually to make a living, and exhibiting what can be termed their national traits?

Last Saturday, Federal and State legislative election re-runs took place in my home state, Rivers. Many people gloomily expressed fears beforehand that the exercise would be violent and chaotic; and these fears turned out to be very well-founded.

EVERY election sends a message. What were the messages behind the partially conclusive parliamentary rerun polls in Rivers State which took place last weekend? ON Monday this week, DAILY TRUST led with quotations from a Post Insurgency Recovery and Peace Building Assessment Report, presented by the Borno State Government to the World Bank, based on the effect of the Boko Haram insurgency in Borno, in the last seven years. It was a frightening report, which showed that Borno State lost 20,000 citizens and suffered property damaged worth $5.9billion (N1.9Trillion in today’s parallel market exchange rate).
