Osama’s execution –and the manner of his disposal- were incontrovertibly vengeful. Which Obama said, was what America wanted: cold-blooded ‘revenge’! Or what Alan Ayckbourn, in his ‘Revengers Comedies’ describes as “good, old-fashioned, bloodcurdling revenge”. Yet, like the English philosopher, Francis Bacon, said, “Revenge is a kind of wild justice; which the more man’s nature runs to, the more ought law to weed it out”. Suppose it is okay to ‘revenge’ a ‘wrong’; the question is: who determines ‘when’ or ‘whether’ a ‘wrong’ has been committed? One who alleges or an impartial jury?

IN a world where several forces compete and contend for a man’s attention, seeking to lead him, it has become imperative that we be able to identify which leading is of God and which is not. One major characteristic of divine guidance is that it has its source in God. It is God’s revealed plan, and therefore, must be traceable to Him. Any guidance that does not have its source in God will lead to destruction. So, don’t go running with just anything you receive. Prove its veracity first. How do you determine the accuracy of the leading you have received? Let me show you how.

Who can blame Nigerians who don’t believe there’s transparency in the screening done by our lawmakers? We’re famous for the ‘Nigerian factor’ and are good at fixing things, so, one would be expecting too much if we think this wouldn’t extend to the screening of public officers by our lawmakers.

WHEN some groups and individuals from Northern Nigeria suggested amnesty for the Boko Haram Islamic terrorist group ravaging the North East, it seemed like just another copycat idea that no serious person would pay attention to. You know, the Nigerian elite, especially those championing sectional interests, are often so lazy. Ideas are copied without evaluating whether or not they make sense or apply congruently. Just because it was used to solve a problem in one part of the country they want it for themselves. It becomes another “national cake”.
