Truth is there have been uncountable ‘talks’ given, numerous ‘papers’ presented, many ‘books’ published and several ‘documentaries’ made exposing the monumental lies fed the world about 9/11 and Osama bin Laden. In fact, 75 professors and scientists from different universities in US said they believed 9/11 was an inside job, and that the Bush administration engineered the destruction of the twin-towers to create an excuse to pounce on un-cooperative oil-rich Iraq and Iran. Just like they have suddenly found the perfect excuse now to go for the Libyan sweet crude, – hitherto shrewdly dispensed by a clever, uncooperative nut, Gaddafi.

During Nigeria’s second republic, certain ministers and a few other political office-holders who paraded the corridors of power as close associates of the President were loathed nationwide for their perceived roles in the conduct of government business. There was the generally-held opinion that such persons and not President Shehu Shagari were responsible for whatever went wrong with the nation’s governance.

In the war between the Nigeria Police and terrorists, whether Boko Haram or others, there is only one side to take for any patriotic citizen of this country. I am siding firmly with the police because the others aim to dominate us against our will; but not the police. And, you better join too; because this is a struggle for the soul of our country.

It is a pity that weeks after the presidential election, the election which was generally agreed to be fair and free; Nigerians would still be under the feeling of uncertainties about the structure and composition of the federal cabinet and also the security of life and property of the individual. Unfortunately, if feelers are reliable, President Jonathan might disappoint his numerous admirers as to his ability and that of his ruling party (PDP) to forge a new Nigeria.

We should appropriate some things as national assets. Among them is the social responsibility agenda of some of key organisations in our environment. On my mind today is Mobil Athletics Championships that the oil company has sponsored for decades and which it said it had finally decided to stop.

ON Friday, June 10 former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Malam Nasir el Rufai, wrote an article on the back page of Thisday newspapers with the title: “Jonathan’s Tough Choices”. If the headline of this article suggested an objective analysis, criticism and suggestions on the best way forward, the body did not reflect it.
