ONE of the most ill-concealed intensions in Nigerian politics, the decamping of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, finally took place early this week. The cream of the opposition faction of the Nigerian neo-colonial ruling class, collected in the All Progressive Congress, APC, made its way to Yola, to receive the Adamawa ‘big fish’, into their midst.

THE decision, a couple of weeks ago, by the APC to block passage of bills proposed by the PDP has naturally drawn diverse reactions from Nigerians. The reactions have been mostly as partisan as are reactions to the issue that led to the unprecedented decision of the APC in the first place, namely, the crisis in Rivers State that has been exacerbated by the involvement of the Commissioner of Police in the State, Mbu Joseph Mbu.

THE downside to being in public office in the U.S. is becoming an object of intense, and often irritating, highly intrusive and critical, media and public scrutiny. Your action and inaction invariably become subjects of serious debates, even from uninformed quarters and from people with less than noble intentions. What choice do you have? None.

THERE are an estimated 170 million Nigerians. The overwhelming proportion of these will live and die unknown and unsung. Airports will not be named after them. Neither will universities be established in their honour. A hundred years from now, people will not even remember they ever existed, except that they might have some children and grandchildren hanging around.
