When many of us read or hear about cultism and violence in secondary schools, it all sounds so distant until you experience it firsthand. I was around a government-owned secondary school when I noticed some students and some people arguing outside the school gate. In a twinkle of an eye the argument degenerated into mayhem.

Life is a tale … constructed by each person. While some are poetic, parading grand and elegant structures; some come in fine prose, flowing mellifluously; there are also others not too grand and not in any way mellifluous.

Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila, an APC stalwart, has just become the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives. According to news reports, his emergence was preceded by weeks of tense horse-trading and negotiation between rival factions in the National Assembly and the body politic in general.

THE Cuban flag has gone up in Washington DC. It had come down 54 years ago. The American flag is to go up in Havana on August 14. It had come down in 1961. Cuba had on July 20, packed about five hundred guests into its 16th Street mansion Embassy to raise its flag. It has two primary requests of its big brother neigbour; lift the 54-year embargo on Cuba, and get out of our Guantanamo Bay.
