Nigerian Boxing Federation (NBF) chief coach Obisia Nwamkpa has called for grass-roots competitions as a way of promoting boxing in the country.

“A brilliant performance like this should not go uncommended, and this goes to show the great potential that the country has to churn out good players if we set our parameters right” Oyinlola said.

Sometimes I don’t like the way issues, particularly issues relating to football, are handled. The issue of a technical assistant, physiotherapist or whatever you choose to call it, if we were doing things normally, every information on the technical crew should be coming from one source. Sometimes it leaves me more confused when you discuss an issue with your employers, the next thing you start reading it in the press. If I should tell you my frank answer, for now, there is no subtraction or addition to the technical crew that is going to the Nations Cup.

He has played the game and managed it as well. He is not known to talk from
both sides of the mouth hence those administering the game in the country love to hate him and get jittery each time they see him coming close to either the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF or any of the national teams, the Super Eagles in particular.

Amidst growing pressure from Nigerians making a case for the inclusion of two or three home-based players in the Angola 2010 Africa Cup of Nations bound national team, Chief coach, Amodu Shuaibu has come out in unequivocal terms to dismiss such calls as ill informed.

Coach Amodu Shuaibu almost took everybody to the cleaners until the crazy element in Dominic Iorfa exploded. It took strong efforts to stop a free- for all fight in a meeting meant to promote unity and the way forward for the Green Eagles.
