South Korea coach, Huh Jun-moo, has requested for a friendly against Ghana or Cote’d Ivoire to prepare his wards against Nigeria ahead of their group B clash at the South Africa 2010.
According to Korea Football Association spokesman, Kim Joo-sung, the match schedule for March 3 with the venue undecided would give the Taeguk Warriors a feel of African opposition as Korea has never met Nigeria at the senior level.
Korea are drawn in group B along side Nigeria, Argentina and Greece. And coach Huh Jung-moo has declared that Korea would not be a push over in South Africa 2010. He is keen to see his players face a tough test from one of the continent’s best.
“As head coach Huh Jung-moo has asked for a game with an African team, we are in consultations with Ivory Coast, Cameroon, and Ghana, all of which have advanced to the World Cup finals,†Yonhap News Agency quoted Kim Joo-sung, head of the international affairs department at the Korea Football Association, as saying.
Korea are due to head to South Africa on January 5 for a two-week training camp and coach Huh will send his coaching staff to the African Cup of Nations.
