In my young mind in those days(over 40 years ago), I often wondered how parents concluded that this child was their favourite. My confusion was the fact that my parents did not show favouritism towards any of us, so I had no first-hand experience to fall back on. It was simply and always a case of who was right or wrong, who needed what, and whose needs were more urgent at any point. These were the criteria that determined where the pendulum swung.

I get uncomfortable, peeved even, when I hear the sweeping statement that the Presidency has achieved nothing in what? Six years? It is a statement that is shallow at best and, stretched further, uncharitable. Even Lucky Igbinedion, as incompetent as he was, achieved ‘something’ in Edo State.

There’s no denying the potent power of Nigeria as a country or Nigerians as a people. Meeting just one Nigerian (depending on who) can have life altering effects not to talk more of walking into a room full of us or better still, drop a jonnie just come in the middle of Lagos during rush hour…. Trust me, it has a profound effect.
