Latent wealth with debt seeking mindset
The 2016 Appropriation Bill, has probably generated wider public interest and debate than any other annual budget in recent memory. The projected spending of over N6Tn is by far the highest ever, but will also require an exceptionally heavy loan of almost N2Tn to fund this budget, in which capital expenditure is allocated an unusually high, though still modest provision, of 30% of government’s total spending this year.
Mathematical politicians
MANY mathematical problems still elude solution. So, huge rewards are offered for any one that can resolve problems in such fields as partial differential equations, algebra, analysis or combinatorics. The contribution of Nigerian politicians is not to prove the truth or falsity of any mathematical problem, like the unsolved 116-year old Hilbert’s Problems which include algebraic curves, but to add their own mathematical problems.

Do our legislators have alcohol allowance?
The condemnable attempt a few days ago by just 5 Kogi State legislators to remove their Speaker, Momoh Jimoh Lawal, ought not to be referred to as news. This is not to suggest that negative issues don’t make news because everyone knows that bad news is the most popular news. But considering that the newer and fresher an event is, the easier it is for it to make news, hooliganism which has since become a hobby of our legislators and which is no longer new, ought not to make news in the ordinary sense; rather it should make condemnable news. In other words, it shouldn’t even be described as news but as a story which the teller presents in a negative sense. Unfortunately, we the narrators hardly remember to sensitize the people that it is the story of shameless actors.
‘Where is our road courtesy?’
If you were to complain about three main things in your environment today, I’m very that one of those things top on your list would have something to do with our roads. Traffic is a major deterrent to the proper functioning of our daily activities. In the past the roads used to be predictable, but today we experience all sorts.
