A SIMPLE dictionary meaning of junta is “a clique (usually military) taking power in a coup d’etat”. A coup is the acquisition of political power other than through the constitutionally prescribed rules.

In the unfolding charade relating to the appropriate power equation now that the President is incapacitated, the word ‘loyalty’ has become a victim of monstrous panel beating and misinterpretations. People talk as if loyalty is an end itself, not a means to a higher purpose that renders it meaningful.

After that he hurdled over three Boeing 747 planes, two Airbuses and a Boeing 787 Dreamliner taxing for take-off almost hitting his back foot on the tail fin of the aircraft. He claimed another record in the highest hurdles.

Jonathan’s days are numbered, and this is where he is poised to make history, if he knows what to do with numbered days. But let us establish the fact that Jonathan’s days are numbered. I was not responsible for numbering his days.

The news out of Imo State is not good. There is a sense of failure and a general feeling of siege; a situation that calls us all to rise and confront two important questions: first, how is it that a state so endowed with some of Africa’s best educated people can sit and allow the use of primitive and unregulated power to undermine its civic authority?
