IN a very crude and distasteful publication in the Vanguard, Tabia Princewill, a columnist, displayed a total contempt for the truth and an apparent disrespect for the ethics and the tenets of the noble profession.

I WAS in Accra this past week and saw a Toyota van with inscription “APC”. I initially thought an APC official from Nigeria was in town. But upon looking closely, I saw it was “All Peoples Congress” with a broom as its logo.It then dawned on me that the rumoured CHANGE in Nigeria must have inspired some Ghanaians to form their own APC hoping their change would birth.
Sheriff: PDP’s messiah or undertaker?
CALL it the Sheriff shocker – that was what it was to most people. Olisa Metuh, the National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) airily announced last week Tuesday, that in addition to the candidates who had earlier lined up to contest the vacant position of National Chairman of their party, “moves” were made by the party’s leaders to “bring” four others into the race and that two of them had accepted.
Latent wealth with debt seeking mindset
The 2016 Appropriation Bill, has probably generated wider public interest and debate than any other annual budget in recent memory. The projected spending of over N6Tn is by far the highest ever, but will also require an exceptionally heavy loan of almost N2Tn to fund this budget, in which capital expenditure is allocated an unusually high, though still modest provision, of 30% of government’s total spending this year.
Mathematical politicians
MANY mathematical problems still elude solution. So, huge rewards are offered for any one that can resolve problems in such fields as partial differential equations, algebra, analysis or combinatorics. The contribution of Nigerian politicians is not to prove the truth or falsity of any mathematical problem, like the unsolved 116-year old Hilbert’s Problems which include algebraic curves, but to add their own mathematical problems.
