A tragic loss

Ken Saro-Wiwa Junior, the eldest son of the Ogoni author and activist whose 1995 execution sent shockwaves around the world, passed away, aged only 47, on Tuesday. And I am more devastated than mere words can ever express.

An African peeps into the world in 2017

THE world is at war. In most parts, this year that marks the Centenary of the First World War, is witnessing horrendous conflicts. In that war, the main actors proclaimed, ‘no more wars!’ Twenty three years later, they were back in a ‘war to end all wars’.

Aisha Buhari’s “sting operation”

IT is my considered opinion that the interviews which Madame Aisha Buhari granted criticising the composition of her husband’s government mainly with strangers was a “sting operation”. Apparently, while her husband was perfecting the armed invasion of the homes of judges by agents of the Directorate of State Services, DSS, over alleged corrupt practices, Aisha was also priming to release her bombshell.

Life begins at coronation

WE heartily congratulate the Royal Family and, indeed, the entire people of Benin Kingdom on the strings of success coming our way at this time. The 20th of October will go down as a red-letter day in the history of this Kingdom.
