‘BETTER late than never” remains the word of wisdom when a measure long delayed had caused immeasurable damages to a nation until it can no longer be avoided. For too long and out of fear of a small minority of selfish individuals calling themselves Labour Unions, governments continued to operate commercial enterprises long after it had become glaring to all other stakeholders that governments are incapable of running businesses successfully.

THIS article was first published in June 2006 and republished, annually, since then on the Anniversaries of Democracy and Independence Days; but, its content has become increasingly relevant this year. Hopefully, this will once more represented as a wakeup call to abort the inevitable dire consequences which will jeopardize our relationship as a nation and thereby forestall an inevitable frustration of the hope of our people for a better life. For tens of millions of our youths, hunger and poverty is an obstacle course which they are too weak, and have no hope of crossing; of all human rights, the right to life is the most fundamental, followed by food; a country like ours that makes hunger seem like a fundamental human right, cannot have a bright future

I stand for a united, democratic Federal Republic of Nigeria, where there is freedom, equity, justice and progress which can only come from an equalised federation instead of the current lopsided one. I know that people like me are found in all the six geopolitical divisions of this great nation

Congratulations to our dear Nation Nigeria celebrating 56 years of independence. How interesting to see Nigeria evolve as the years have gone by go by so fast.
