Last February, we crowned Dorothy Atake as the first Allure Style Icon – a search we instituted as a physical embodiment of what Allure represents: The promotion of brains, good looks, good body and impeccable style.

Style is one word that is often used but quite elusive to define. Not many have been able to draw the line between fashion and style but there is a line. We spoke to some designers who bared their mind on what they consider to be style and who a style icon is. Here is what they said.

Isn’t Christmas such a wonderful time of the year! For those with family traditions of exchanging gifts, it’s a time to look forward to being loved. A time to give and receive gifts. Already the shops are all looking bright with colours of red, green and gold forming the decor on the shop windows. Every shop you enter now, there are new arrivals all stocked for the Christmas period. The array of products and gift items make it difficult for a shopper to make a choice.

We had a roaring time, the Allure Team and our guests. The guests comprised the crème of the fashion and style industry. They were invited to look critically at our obsession with clothes and more clothes.
