IT is three days to the end of September 2015, the magic month within which President Muhammadu Buhari promised to appoint his ministers. It is expected that in spite of his foot-dragging and reluctance, he will publish the names of the nominees before Friday this week.

“The National Assembly, demonstrated great courage in throwing out Obasanjo’s third term bid, and they appropriately received the commendation of all patriotic Nigerians, but discerning Nigerians have warned against complacency. If the rate of poverty deepens and injustice and disrespect for the rule of law by the executive remain unchecked, we can still end up with a National Assembly wholly made up of surrogates as witnessed in some states, vis-à-vis the godfather syndrome, in the recent past.

Governors and presidents need more time. But, our collective stupidity, ably supported by my colleagues in the media, had got us hooked on the hundred days assessment. It is mostly a waste of everybody’s time. I was happy to be watching a television programme when Buhari was in Ghana on the day. Mr Femi Adesina, Buhari’s spokesman was reached and among other things he tried to play down the importance of the hundred days. Sanity at last.
