When Lazarus fell sick, his sisters sent word to Jesus to come and heal him. But rather than come immediately, Jesus delayed. Finally, he said to his disciples: “Lazarus is dead. And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, that you may believe.” (John 11:14-15).
