If you were to complain about three main things in your environment today, I’m sure very that one of those things top on your list would have something to do with our roads. Traffic is a major deterrent to the proper functioning of our daily activities.

It’s the last Sunday in the month of October, we are  grateful to God who has kept us alive.

He is the ‘Giant’. And not called a giant for fun sake. The potentials of this big frame were discovered early in his life. He walked heads and shoulders far above others born around the same time as he was. He appeared brave everywhere he showed up and in a short while, became the protector of mates, young and old, defending them from abusers and oppressors.

Indeed, we Africans had it going good politically before the interregnum that was the slave trade. Peter Cunliffe-Jones, in his celebrated work of non fiction  My Nigeria, made no bones about his informed opinion that the conundrum in which Nigeria and most of Africa finds itself is the very direct consequence of the transatlantic slave trade and the colonization of the continent by Europe.

I recall my younger days in Warri, Delta State, when a girl prefers one guy to the other, the usual refrain from the “loser” is, “I no know wetin she see for that guy body sef.” And he will go on a tirade, denigrating the “winner.” As I grew older, I kept ruminating over this remark, then it struck me: How you go take know wetin she see for the guy body? No be who wear shoe know where e for dey tight? She is the one in the relationship and knows what she wants, or at least she thinks she knows.
