The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, won four out of the five local government areas of the re-run election in the Abia North Senatorial election. He recorded over 26, 000 votes and was cruising to victory until the result of Bende local government, won by former governor of the state and candidate of the Progressives Peoples Alliance, PPA, Orji Uzor Kalu.

Early results from the Abia North re-run election seemed to favour Senator Mao Ohuabunwa of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.This is according to unofficial results from parts of the senatorial district.

Hon. Sunday Eromedoghene Onoriode, a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is the immediate past council chairman of Ethiope East local government area of Delta State. The story of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, governor of Kano State is typified in the African proverb that the patient dog eats the fattest bone. When Kwankwaso was appointed Minister of Defence by ex-president Olusegun Onasanjo, Ganduje also served as the Special Adviser (Political) to the minister. In 2011, the pair returned for their second term in Kano. At the point of exiting office, Kwankwaso made way for his deputy and today, Ganduje is the elected governor of Kano State.
