Former Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Chief Timi Alaibe, yesterday said no amount of blackmail would stop him and his supporters from backing Chief Timipre Sylva, the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for the December 5 governorship election in Bayelsa State.

Worried by alleged mismanagement of funds of the commission running into billions of Naira, the Presidency has summoned the management of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, to answer questions on the true financial status of the agency.

It could be maintained that the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, is yet to deliver on its mandate. Needless to say, any human being with even a bare minimum of a sense of justice should be utterly aghast at the execrable treatment of what is undoubtedly the most important component of the Nigerian commonwealth.

Following the recent appointments made by President Goodluck Jonathan of new members into the board of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, ex-militants in the third phase of the federal government amnesty programme had pledged their support to work with them.

WARRI—A London- based rights group, Niger Delta for Peace and Development, has commended President Goodluck Jonathan over his appointees to the Board of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, just as it applauded the Senate for rising above local politics in the screening and confirming of the appointees.
