These were the brief exchange between Colonel Robert Adeyinka Adebayo, (March 9, 1928- March 8, 2017), Military Governor of Western Region and Lt. Col. Udumegwu Ojukwu(1933-2011), Military Governor of Eastern Region during the peace meeting held by Senior Military officers in Aburi, Ghana between January 4 and 5, 1967 to resolve Nigerian crisis.

THE present government in Edo under theleadership of Mr. Godwin Obaseki came to power under no illusion that it will not be business as usual. His approach to political campaign was uncommonly frank and techically detailled, completely devoid of the usual highfalutin and bombastic promises of Eldorado. He told his audience at Irrua, Esan Central for instance, that he will not speak to them like a typical politician who will promise what was impracticable and dull their criticality by large sums of monetary gift.

The solution lies in voter education. It lies in the formulation of government policies aimed at the eradication of illiteracy and poverty. A solution must be found to voter apathy which has characterised most elections since the incursion of the military into politics.

IN societies with responsive and responsible leadership, the increasing rate of suicide is all that is needed to put things right. But here in Nigeria, the major concern of those at the helms of affairs is whatever threatens their hegemonic control of the national commonwealth.
