It is only fair that Nigerians who claimed to have elected President Buhari as a man that can rid the nation of corruption should not also become hyper-critical about a result-oriented approach to the hydra-headed monster

The Nigerian Senate is fast becoming more powerful by the day. That seems to be the desire of its members who describe themselves as distinguished. Although it is a law-making body which puts it within the legislature, its posture sometimes makes it look like it also has both executive and judicial powers and that it can in fact control everyone else. Hence, it often dishes out instructions which it expects everybody to obey.

Nigeria’s television news leader, Channels Television, is 21 years old. Last Wednesday, it closed trading at the Nigerian Stock Exchange as part of a week-long line up of events to celebrate its 21st anniversary.

As part of the determination of government to ensure hitch-free elections in the country, President Muhammadu Buhari last Wednesday swore in six new Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to strengthen the work of the commission. On the occasion, the President charged the commissioners to be firm and fair in the discharge of their duties adding that his government would rely on them to help consolidate the integrity of the electoral body.

Our President can quarrel with Asiwaju or any other APC leader till 2019 and beyond. Such quarrels may turn out to be good for the nation because they can serve as a check on each other in a nation where opposition political parties are dysfunctional
