The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit, (Taskforce), has announced extensive security and enforcement operations across the state ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, assuring residents of adequate protection of lives and property during the festive period.

The agency said the strategic operations, which would be carried out across identified black spots and other vulnerable locations in the metropolis, are aimed at restricting criminal activities, curbing environmental and traffic offences, and ensuring a peaceful atmosphere for residents and visitors during the Islamic festival.

Chairman of the Taskforce, Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP, Adetayo Akerele, ssid that officers and personnel of the agency had been deployed to various parts of the state as part of a coordinated security and monitoring exercise in line with the directives of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Akerele who stated that the agency would work in synergy with other security and emergency response agencies, said, “We are fully prepared to ensure that Lagos residents enjoy a peaceful and secure Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

“Our personnel have been strategically positioned across the state to monitor activities, prevent crimes and respond swiftly to any security breach.”

He added that the agency would intensify patrols during the period, particularly in areas known for street trading, environmental infractions, illegal parking, hooliganism and other activities capable of causing security concerns or obstructing free movement within the state.

The taskforce boss, therefore warned criminal elements and individuals planning to disrupt public peace to stay away from Lagos, stressing that the agency would not tolerate acts capable of threatening the security and wellbeing of law-abiding residents.

Akerele urged residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies and promptly report suspicious movements or activities within their communities to relevant authorities.

He also appealed to motorists, transport operators and traders to comply with traffic and environmental regulations to avoid sanctions during the enforcement exercise.

“As an agency charged with maintaining environmental sanity and enforcing public order, we remain committed to protecting lives and property before, during and after the festivities,” he said.
