The NANS presidential spokesperson described the appointment as a thoughtful, strategic, and highly commendable decision that reflects excellence, merit, credibility, and visionary leadership.
According to the statement, Mrs Samson remains one of Nigeria’s most respected indigenous entrepreneurs and business leaders whose remarkable achievements in the oil and gas sector continue to stand as an inspiration to millions of Nigerians, particularly young people and students aspiring to become successful entrepreneurs and nation builders.
Alao stated that the appointment of the Founder of BOVAS Oil and Gas Company as Chancellor of Osun State University is not only a recognition of her outstanding contributions to economic growth and employment generation, but also an acknowledgement of her longstanding reputation for integrity, accountability, discipline, and humanity.
The statement noted that Mrs Samson’s journey from managing a single petroleum station to building one of the most recognized indigenous oil and gas brands in Nigeria reflects exceptional resilience, business intelligence, and leadership capacity.
“Her company’s expansion to over 200 service stations across the country and the employment opportunities created for thousands of Nigerians further demonstrate her commitment to national development and economic empowerment.”
NANS also highlighted her exceptional achievements within the oil and gas industry, including her emergence as the first Nigerian to win the highly competitive Texaco Latin America and West Africa Award for Best Overall Dealer, describing the feat as a reflection of excellence, competence, and professionalism.
Alao emphasized that Mrs Samson’s appointment carries significant value beyond ceremonial recognition, noting that her wealth of experience, leadership exposure, and entrepreneurial success would undoubtedly contribute positively to the growth, image, and institutional advancement of Osun State University.
The statement further commended Governor Adeleke for what it described as a visionary and merit based appointment capable of strengthening public confidence in the educational sector and encouraging greater collaboration between institutions and accomplished private sector leaders.
Alao noted that the Governor’s decision once again demonstrates his administration’s commitment to educational development, institutional growth, and the promotion of excellence across Osun State.
He further appreciated the Governor for his continued investments and support towards policies and initiatives that enhance learning, leadership development, and opportunities for young people within the state.
NANS expressed confidence that Mrs Samson would bring her wisdom, experience, and leadership expertise into her new role as Chancellor and contribute meaningfully toward promoting academic excellence, mentorship, moral leadership, and institutional development within Osun State University.
