Emerging Afrobeats sensation, Ryno, has revealed how pain, loss and life experiences have become the driving force behind his music career as he continues to carve a niche for himself in Nigeria’s competitive entertainment industry.
The singer, born Abebefe Sulaiman Ayomide, made the revelation while speaking on his musical journey, inspirations and latest projects.
Ryno, who hails from Ogun State but operates from Lagos, said music became more than entertainment for him because it helped him cope with life’s harsh realities.
According to the artiste, one of the darkest periods of his life was losing both parents, an experience he described as devastating.
“Losing both of my parents has been incredibly devastating and is the heaviest challenge I’ve had to navigate. It hasn’t been easy, but glory be to God for the strength to keep going,” he said.
Despite the emotional setbacks, the singer has remained focused on building his music career since officially launching his journey in 2020.
Known for his blend of Afrobeats and Afro-soul, Ryno said he draws inspiration from everyday life, his environment and personal experiences.
He also credited his family for nurturing his talent at an early age.
“My sister would play the drums, I would sing and our mother would dance to our rhythm. That was where the foundation started for me,” he recalled.
The singer further disclosed that Nigerian rap star, Olamide, played a huge role in shaping his musical ambition, noting that he has admired the YBNL boss since the release of “Eniduro”.
Ryno gained wider attention after collaborating with late singer, MohBad, on the track titled “Hello”, a project he described as one of the most memorable moments of his career.
The artiste recently released a new single titled “La Vida Loca” featuring Oberz, saying the song encourages listeners to stay resilient and embrace life confidently.
“The song is about resilience and living life on your own terms. You only live once, so never allow anyone dim your light,” he said.
Speaking on the importance of collaborations in the entertainment industry, Ryno stated that strategic partnerships can help young artistes gain visibility and accelerate growth.
He added that he looks forward to collaborating with frontline Nigerian acts such as Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido and Zlatan.
The singer also hinted at another forthcoming single titled “Nothing for Love”, expected to be released next month as part of efforts to further expand his growing catalogue.
