The bid by Hon. Sharafadeen Aweyeti to emerge as the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for the House of Assembly seat for Yewa North 1 (Isokan State Constituency), has received a big boost with his endorsement by the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

The approval by Governor Abiodun did not come in isolation; he had initially made his position known during the Janazah and burial prayer ceremony of the late Chief Imam of Yewaland and President of the League of Imams and Alfas in Ogun State, the revered Sheikh Sikirulai Babalola, held at Igan Alade in Yewa North Local Government.

At the solemn gathering, which attracted prominent political figures, Islamic clerics, traditional leaders, and community stakeholders from across Ogun State, Governor Abiodun used the opportunity to speak directly with leaders and elders of Yewa North 1 (Isokan State Constituency).

During the interaction, the Governor offered his leadership in tandem with the voices of the leaders and elders alike to endorse Hon. Aweyeti as the APC candidate for the constituency ahead of the 2027 elections.

He emphasised the need for unity, loyalty, and collective commitment towards ensuring the success of the party by supporting a candidate widely accepted by the people.

In further demonstration of his confidence in Aweyeti’s candidacy, Governor Abiodun again reaffirmed his support during a crucial meeting held at his residence in Iperu Remo on Sunday night.

While addressing leaders and stakeholders from Yewa North 1 (Isokan State Constituency), the Governor reiterated his endorsement of Aweyeti as the party’s consensus candidate and that the APC must remain united and focused on sustaining progressive governance through credible and widely accepted candidates.

He therefore urged all party faithfuls, ward leaders, youth groups, women leaders, and political associates to return home and mobilise massively to support Aweyeti at the party’s primary poll for the House Assembly on Wednesday.

Aweyeti’s candidacy is also enjoying tremendous support from youth and students who appreciate his commitment to youth empowerment and welfare.
