No fewer than 35 senior Nigerian software engineers have been recognised by InternPulse, a multinational organisation focused on developing young talents in software development and product design, for their outstanding innovation, leadership and mentorship contributions to the technology ecosystem.

The recognition, contained in InternPulse’s recently released list, spotlights engineers whose impact, according to the organisation, extends beyond writing code to include community building, open-source contributions and knowledge sharing.

Speaking on the selection, the Chief Executive Officer of InternPulse, John Diginee, said the initiative was a deliberate effort to highlight professionals whose work is shaping the future of technology across Africa and beyond.

According to him, the engineers are actively developing innovative solutions, mentoring emerging talents and consistently raising standards of engineering excellence, with their work powering products, platforms and engineering teams across multiple industries.
“Out of the 35 honourees, we are spotlighting 10 individuals based on their publicly verifiable achievements and global industry influence. At InternPulse, our mission goes beyond training entry-level talent; we are deeply committed to recognising and amplifying excellence across the African tech ecosystem,” Diginee said.

He added that the selected engineers represent the best of Nigerian innovation, noting that their leadership and commitment to mentoring the next generation are critical to building a sustainable and globally competitive technology future for Africa.

Diginee further explained that the honourees were carefully selected by a panel of editors, mentors and industry experts at InternPulse, stressing that none of the individuals lobbied for inclusion.
“While the list aims to be comprehensive, we acknowledge that many other professionals continue to make significant contributions to advancing software development in Nigeria. Through initiatives like this, InternPulse reaffirms its commitment to celebrating excellence and strengthening Africa’s growing technology ecosystem,” he said.

Leading the spotlight is Segun Adebayo, Lead Software Engineer at Chakra UI, recognised for creating one of the world’s most widely used open-source React component libraries and for his contributions to global UI tooling.

Also honoured is Chisom Nwokwu, former Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft, for her work on large-scale data platforms, technical authorship and development of culturally focused technology solutions.

Developer Advocate at Appwrite, Ebenezer Don, received recognition for his extensive open-source contributions, global developer education initiatives and bestselling technical publications.

In the fintech sector, Babawale John, Chief Technical Officer at Guaranty Trust (Squad), was recognised for leading high-impact payment infrastructure projects and mentoring engineering talent within Nigeria’s banking technology space.
Others honoured include Emmanuel Lucius, Senior Software Engineer and Frontend Lead at Komodo, for his work in decentralised finance systems; Olorundara Komolafe, Technical Lead at Kuda, for excellence in backend infrastructure, cloud architecture and open-source contributions; and Akinwale Agbaje, Senior Software Engineering Manager at Microsoft, for his work on large-scale distributed systems and AI-driven product features.

Innovation in healthcare, infrastructure and artificial intelligence was also highlighted through the recognition of Bukola Sobowale of Giv Healthcare and Femi Alayesanmi of Mono, both noted for building scalable systems that power critical digital infrastructure across Africa.

Completing the spotlight is Wahab Balogun, Senior Mobile Engineer at Chipper Cash, recognised for leading mobile frontend infrastructure, open-source work and community-driven engineering initiatives.

InternPulse noted that the full list reflects the depth and diversity of Nigerian engineering talent driving progress across fintech, healthtech, enterprise software, artificial intelligence, open-source and decentralised technologies.
