*Oluwasegun Ajayi explains how his background in payments shaped Eedu.tech, an AI platform now used by thousands of Nigerian students and parents

Oluwasegun Ajayi, a Nigerian backend engineering leader and technology entrepreneur, has emerged as one of the innovators advancing digital transformation in education.

As the founder of Eedu.tech, Ajayi has leveraged his technical expertise to build an AI-powered school management platform that enables schools to digitise and manage their academic and administrative operations more intelligently.

According to Ajayi, the vision has always been to create practical technology that addresses the everyday realities facing schools.

“Technology should remove barriers to quality education, not create new ones,” he said. “Our goal has always been to build practical tools that make it easier for schools to manage their operations while giving educators the information they need to better support students.”

With artificial intelligence playing a growing role in education, schools across Nigeria and Africa are increasingly adopting digital solutions to improve learning and administration. Yet many institutions still rely on disconnected systems and manual processes that reduce efficiency and limit visibility into student progress. It was against this backdrop that Ajayi began applying his engineering experience to solving operational challenges in education.

His work is informed by about eight years of experience building production-grade software systems across fintech, banking, payments, card issuance, and enterprise technology. Before founding Eedu.tech, he contributed to mission-critical financial systems requiring robust backend architecture, experience that now shapes his approach to education technology.

Under his leadership, Eedu.tech has evolved into a unified platform that replaces fragmented administrative processes with connected digital infrastructure, enabling schools to manage teaching, learning, communication, and daily operations through a single system.

Ajayi has also focused on solving infrastructure challenges that continue to affect schools across the continent. One example is the platform’s offline examination system, which allows schools to conduct computer-based assessments without continuous internet access.

“Innovation is only meaningful when it solves real problems,” he said. “We recognised that many schools cannot always depend on stable internet connectivity, so we designed the examination system to work within those realities rather than expecting schools to adapt to the technology.”

The platform also applies artificial intelligence to identify students who may require early intervention by analysing academic and behavioural indicators. It further supports AI-assisted quiz generation and learning support, giving educators earlier insights while reducing routine administrative work.

“Artificial intelligence will continue to shape the future of education, but its real value lies in helping teachers, administrators, and parents make timely interventions that improve learning outcomes,” Ajayi said.

That approach is already gaining traction. Eedu.tech is currently used by more than 35 schools, serving 7,487 users, including 4,590 students, 611 teachers, and 2,286 parents. The adoption reflects the growing demand for digital school infrastructure across the region.

The platform has also received positive feedback from partner schools that have adopted its technology. Treasure Okonkwo, Proprietress and Director of Kingdom Kiddies International, said Eedu.tech has significantly improved the school’s day-to-day operations.
“One of the greatest benefits has been the reduction in administrative workload. Tasks that previously required hours of manual effort can now be completed much more quickly and accurately,” she said, “Eedu.tech has helped us operate more efficiently while enabling us to provide a better experience for both staff and parents.” she added.
