How 2Baba, Tiwa Savage shut down Benin City for “I Go Dye Standing” show

It was billed to be a great show and against all odds it lived up to its billing. In Spite of the heavy downpour of rain that marred the Easter Sunday celebration in Benin City, Edo State, the I Go Dye Standing show tagged “More than a Legend” went on in all its glory, pomp and pageantry before a sold out audience.

It was a night of great entrances, splendid performances and enthralling exhilaration in a charged atmosphere of intense camaraderie.

I Go Dye set the tone for the night, making his entrance like an English Knight in Shining armour with 50 royal reel brass men heralding what could be a hero’s welcome to the blaring of multitudes of trumpets. It was a red carpet reception that gave the crowd an inkling of what to come.

Viola! 2Baba and Tiwa Savage were unleashed. The duo took to stage at different times to serenade with their magical musical repertoire which set the already charged atmosphere on fire. Hits after hits, the duo took the crowd on a musical journey, bringing back memories and scintillating sensibilities to a delightful crescendo.

While I Go Dye led the comedy onslaught that left many spreadeagled on their backs and clutching their tummies, Okey Bakassi, Maleke and others proved to be soothing placebos that left the audience truly entertained and sedated.

“Through their words and sacrifices you will easily identify them, @okeybakassi , indeed you are a man of impeccable standard, a veteran who gave the best part of his life to build the comedy industry that most people enjoy today and you gladly came to Benin to Express that selfless attribute that sets you apart. Thanks big brother for the motivation, what more can I say,you are remarkably outstanding on stage, anytime any day,you dey deliver like dispatch riders,” I Go Dye purred on his Instagram page.

I Go Save who orchestrated proceedings of the night as the host, was a consummate conductor who weaved the night of comedy and music into a symphony of harmony that underscored the success of the show.

“I Go Dye Standing: More than a Legend” is a special occasion and thus rightly tagged as it marks the 27th year of Francis Agoda a.k.a I Go Dye on stage.
