Rep. Onyemaechi Mrakpor representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, of Delta State in the House of Representatives recently moved a motion in the House drawing attention to the five year electricity blackout of her constituency. In this interview she elaborates on the efforts she and other concerned stakeholders have made to redress the situation and gives notice of a legal action against the power distribution company.

IN every profession, there are ethics. These involve quality or standards of service, fidelity, community or corporate social responsibility, development of the profession,etc; each according to its peculiar demands. There is no way our country can get out from the doldrums without the positive contributions of our professionals. But,viewed from what they have done so far, they have not lived up to expectations, in other words, they have failed the people.

AS a measure of its anti-graft crusade, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured 273 convictions in the last 32 months and recovered $925,000 about N200 million for the government, according to Vanguard investigations. The commission secured 117 convictions in 2013 and 126 last year. Since January this year, the figure so far is 30 and 12 of these were secured after the May 29 hand-over of power to President Muhammadu Buhari. The N200 million is not part of the money recovered for private individuals.
