Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that the late Chief Daniel Orbih turned down every inducement from the then Governor of Rivers State, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, to withdraw his support for Wike's governorship ambition.

In a statement he released on Monday in Port Harcourt, the state chairman of the ADC, Dr Chukwudi Dimkpa, said Wike’s boast that he would defeat Amaechi by 12 noon on election day is even revealing. “Elections are not won by boasts, intimidation or political strongmen announcing results in advance. Rivers people will vote, the votes will be counted, and INEC, not Wike, will declare the winner,” he said.

He said, “Somebody who had an EFCC case and was charged to court could still contest an election and become a governor. There was nothing wrong with that. Now, somebody who has not been charged to court but is only being investigated by the EFCC is being denied the right to campaign for votes because the EFCC is investigating the person?”
