Akure—DISTURBED by the security threat occasioned by various abductions of prominent and innocent persons in the state, the Nigeria Army, yesterday, raided kidnappers’ dens and arrested seven of their kingpins in Akoko area of Ondo State and border towns.

CALM has returned to Abia State after the weeklong security crisis which rocked Aba and Umuahia, following clashes between soldiers and members of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, which the Military reportedly declared a militant terrorist group, while the South East Governors banned it. 

THE Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai Monday evening stated that the Defence Headquarters did not declare the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB an terrorist organization in the country.

The Chief of Army staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai has said that it is only the federal government of Nigeria that has the constitutional right to declare, if deemed fit, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, wanted. He also refuted claims that the Nigerian army under any pressure to withdraw troops from South-East.

Bianca Ojukwu, the wife of late Biafra warlord, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, has said that there is no justification for the categorization of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, as a terrorist organization by the Nigerian army as well as its proscription by the south-east governors.
