THE proposed rally by the youths of Edo state, under the aegis of “Edo is in Safe Hands”, in support of Comrade Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s bid for a second term, does not appear to have gone down well with a few politicians in the state.

Many people in the world today are in the dark as to those who should properly be refer-red to as Jehovah’s Witnesses. The truth is that the title does not refer to every believer in Christ but to a select few. In the words of St. Paul; “And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.” (Heb-rews 5:4)

Nigeria’s easygoing president made a rare display of emotion when he addressed a private meeting on an arcane-sounding policy that would become one of the most consequential in his nation’s recent history.

It is a pity that an unimaginative and disconnected political elite wedded to obscene privileges and driven by decadent instinct of primitive accumulation has by reckless acts of omission and commission watered the ground on which the ordinary Nigerians are drenched in their own blood.

THE crisis over the removal of petroleum subsidy, which has just ended, though it threatened the basic amenities and comforts of life of all of us, especially the common people, is only a symptom of a much more basic and fundamental malaise that threatens the very life of our dear country.
