IN these times of clamour for structural re-alignment of state boundaries and fiscal federalism, there is a dire need for profitable regional integration amongst nations within the Nigerian state.

For decades, Nigerians had dreamt of a crisp transport system, built around the railway technology like in developed countries for mass movement. The dream is as good as coming to fulfilment now, as all hands are already on deck for the flag-off of commercial services of the Abuja-Kaduna railway project by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The railway is one of the oldest, effective and efficient means for transporting passengers and cargoes across the world.

I FELT a bit miffed at the president’s Eid-el-fitr message not because it lacked compassion or empathy but because it lacked a departure from his strongly held minimalist view of our daily reality. In all sincerity, I have made a solemn promise not to throw empty criticism at Mr. President and only lend my voice to matters in which common sense is clearly shrugged away to accommodate political vacuity.
