THE office of a Governor of a State particularly, a complex State like Delta State (which is actually a mini Nigeria) is serious business and only smart and fair minded people should aspire to such exalted office.

SINCE this administration came on stream three years ago, a major thrust of its programme has been the fight against corruption. 

The first official covenant a leader makes with the people, on the first day of official function is security of lives and property of the citizenry.  It is neither negotiable nor subject to compromise under any guise.

Love him, hate him, the fact remains; one cannot easily ignore Ayodele Peter Fayose, the Governor of Ekiti state. At once verbose and with a sense of self-adulation, Fayose like the mythical bird, phoenix, seems to reinvent himself and stay in the imagination of the people despite not being governor of one of the most prominent states.

DESPITE  its magnificence, democracy has its limits. One of its major drawbacks is that it does not guarantee the election of good leaders; it only makes possible the removal of bad leaders. One cannot say President Mohammadu Buhari is a good president. His administration is wobbling under its own weight of ineptitude, corruption, ethnic chauvinism and religious zealotry. His presidency has brought untold social and economic disruption to the country. It left Nigerians reeling from hitherto unknown levels of poverty, economic hardship, insecurity and ethnic violence. Refreshingly, the problems the Buhari presidency is visiting on Nigeria will hopefully not continue beyond 2019, because Nigerians are constitutionally empowered to put an end to his presidency.
