As a wilful leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, prepared in July 2018 to confection a leadership transition in the association’s history, the man who built a reputation over more than half a century as the conscience of the Bar took his leave of earthly proceedings.

The British Prime Minister’s statement was incorrect. I know our government is bad and would dispute it. However, we are not as poor as some African countries. The Prime Minister should have visited countries like India, Pakistan, Cameroon and other countries before misinforming the world. My position is that we are not as poor as she presented us.

From 1984-1999, I was subjected to constant harassment by the security and intelligence community in Nigeria. Not for posing any threat to national security or for contributing to the economic adversity of the country. But for teaming up with other patriotic forces to challenge  unbridled corruption, unabashed executive lawlessness, gross human rights abuse and other illegal activities which subverted national  security and endangered the welfare of the people of Nigeria under successive military regimes. 

Since last weekend, the international media have been awash with varying tributes in honour of the late Senator, John McCain who passed on at the age of 81 years. While we express our deep heart condolence to the American people and the family of John McCain, who served his country and its people with all his strength, heart and mind, we however wonder why the honour being given to the late Senator after his demise, was not shown him while he was alive?

THE rate at which Nigerians are migrating to other parts of the world has become an issue of great concern, particularly because the consequences of such mass exodus  would have such telling effect on the future of our nation, albeit negatively. But this is not supposed to be so as one cannot divorce development of nations from the great contributions from migrants.
