Funding: As public universities collapse

ONE factor that is used to establish culpability in criminal investigation or prosecution, particularly when a suspect is not caught red-handed, is motive. Motive simply means the reason for doing a thing. It is this concept that should guide us in making our conclusions about the allegations of malicious damage to billboards by the camps of the two main contenders for the 2019 Edo South Senatorial Election – Senator Matthew Urhoghide, PDP and Patrick Obahiagbon, APC.

Hate Speech

Sometime in July last year, the Department of State Services hosted a national seminar on unity in diversity, security and development in Abuja. In his address to the participants, the vice-president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, raised an issue that was not then playing in the public space, namely, hate speech. He warned that “hate speech precedes genocide, the greatest tragedy in human history.”

Aregbesola and his legacies

RECENTLY, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola became the former Governor of Osun State; he completed his eventful and impactful two terms in office. He left office before November 27 in a blaze of glory and glowing legacies that would be hard to match though we pray that his successor in office would be able to perform as much as he did.
