David Nweze Umahi is a man of destiny. He became governor against all odds. For some reasons, his predecessor, who had earlier agreed on a  gentleman’s  agreement that he was going to support his aspiration to succeed him when it was time to leave office, suddenly realized that his son, instead of Umahi, would succeed him.

Do they still believe that he is the undisputed leader and champion of the core Muslim North? Do they still believe that he must never be criticised or challenged? Finally do they still regard him as Nigeria’s messiah?

A gentleman, down to earth per excellence. Hon Leo Ogor as a lawmaker has many unsung testimonies of achievements within the years of his stewardship at the National Assembly. His developmental ideals over the years has endeared him to his constituents and indeed marked him for bigger challenges in the socio-political circles of Delta state and Nigeria as a democratic Nation.

First, may we please take a lengthy aside. Reactions to my last article, “Question for Former President Goodluck Jonathan” revealed the real trouble with social media. Despite my having expressly invited robust debates on certain things such as how the immediate past President fitted the bill of a “Philosophy King,” or how the man showed “restraint,” no debate, no matter how lean or hungry, came.

IN an election season, especially Nigeria’s electoral cycle that can better be described as a scorch-earth contestation for political power,  anything and anyone is fair game. This is so at a time that what the highly Politically Exposed Persons, h-PEP, say can deliberately be misconstrued and/or intentionally twisted to arrive at a pre-determined conclusion (no matter how senseless and outlandish) in their bids for votes. Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, is once again being pilloried for daring to speak the truth by shedding light on the pathway that his people should take if they’re desirous of contesting for power in 2023.
