Although Buhari is the number one citizen of Nigeria, he can’t force himself on the citizens by rigging the election.  Our   electoral body should be independent while conducting the elections. President Buhari should not interfere with the exercise.

A charge of incompetence was hanging over Carter’s head like the Sword of Damocles and Democrats who feared they would lose the election if Carter flew the party’s flag, his incumbency notwithstanding, challenged him in the primaries.

BEFORE the coming of the government of Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta State had its fair share of crisis. Delta can be referred to as a mini Nigeria because of its divergent culture and ethnic groups. There were youth restiveness, militancy and ethnic crisis. On assumption of office, Governor Okowa inaugurated the Delta State Advisory and Peace Building Council. The intervention of the Council in sensitive communal and related matters and the  systematic and pragmatic implementation of  government’s programmes which has given the people a sense of belonging has brought militancy to a halt.

Professor Ayodeji (Deji) Femi-Pearse was born in Lagos on September 18,1932. He was the first child of Dr Jamieson Townsend Femi-Pearse and Mrs Elsie Omolara Femi-Pearse (nee Savage); and the first grandson of Canon James Pearse and Mrs Caroline Olayinka Pearse (nee Cole) of the St. Jude’s Church Ebute-Metta fame.
