In line with its corporate responsibility to the people, Promasidor Nigeria Limited, makers of Amila powdered soft drink organised a painting competition for young ones in primary schools in Lagos State tagged Amila Painting Challenge.

In 1965, the BBC accepted and broadcast my short story, Strange Encounter, on the Writers’ Club Programme. It was read by Tonie Tucker and discussed, with high commendation, by Edward Blishen. Little did 1 know that the warm reception of my work was facilitated by the seminal book of the great Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart, published in 1958!

It was a dream come true last weekend when Amaka Lucy Ezenwankwo a mass communication graduate of Enugu state university of science and technology turned writer launched her first nonfiction novel titled ‘Caught in the storms.The book which exposes the realism of moral decadence of our society , further reveals how cheaply youth are being carried away by the materialistic nature of life.

THE Asaba ‘Mandela Garden of 95 Trees’ project is part of a multi-country multi-event celebration to be staged in Johannesburg, London and New York as well; to acknowledge the United Nations’ decision to designate the birthday; July 18, of this great icon of leadership and racial tolerance, as an annual World Mandela Day! This development was an added incentive for Dr Jibunoh who admits that since his youth he had been inspired by Nelson Mandela.

Also reviewing, reconstructing the Arts and Culture ministry will ginger fresh interest in Arts and give the Industry the credibility and vitality it needs to invite Government and Private Sector support in giving the necessary service to Re-Branding Nigeria.
